The Classical Method

Contrology, the original method developed by Joseph Pilates, is a system of exercises designed to create balanced strength, improved alignment, and efficient movement. Rooted in precision and control, classical Pilates follows a structured progression that builds strength from the inside out while supporting the body as a whole. Unlike contemporary approaches, the classical method remains true to the original sequence and system, offering a consistent and comprehensive approach to movement.

Our studio features Balanced Body Contrology apparatus, thoughtfully crafted in alignment with Joseph Pilates’ original designs. We utilize the full breadth of the classical apparatus system to teach the method, including the Reformer, Cadillac/Tower, mat, barrels, chairs, and traditional small props. To support individualized instruction and a more intentional practice, group apparatus classes are limited to four clients and mat classes to five, allowing for personalized attention, thoughtful cueing, and appropriate modifications throughout each session.
